How to take an Uber to Disney World including the location of the Magic Kingdom drop off and taking an Uber from the airport!
Are you planning a trip to Disney World and wondering about the best way to get there? If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Can I Uber to Disney World?”, you’re in the right place.
This guide will provide you with all the information you need, including details on the Magic Kingdom Uber drop-off and how much an Uber from Orlando Airport to Disney World costs.
Let’s dive into the details and help you make the most of your Disney adventure without breaking the bank.
Can You Uber to Disney World?
Yes, you absolutely can Uber to Disney World! If you are staying off property, it may be your best bet to get to the theme parks and around Orlando.
Depending onw here you are staying, it is also sometimes cheaper to Uber to and from the theme parks than pay $30 per day for Disney World parking.
Even if you are staying at a Disney World resort that offers free transportation, sometimes Disney transportation isn’t convenient – such as when you want to go from one resort to another (eg to eat at a character meal), or when you want to get to a theme park for an early morning breakfast reservation.
A faster option is to use the ride-sharing services Uber and Lyft.
If you’ve never used Uber or Lyft before, I’ll walk you through how they work in this post. I’ll also share tips for using Uber & Lyft at Magic Kingdom, Disney resorts, and Orlando International Airport, as well as my personal experience with rides (which have been almost entirely positive).
Uber to Disney World Basics
Uber and Lyft are smartphone apps that allow you to request a ride from a driver in your immediate area. From this point on I’ll use Uber as my example, but I don’t recommend one program over the other since I’ve had good experiences with both.
Your first concern might be about safety, right? What I like about these apps is that they track your route on a map that both you and the driver (and Uber) can see.
So I feel safe knowing where I’m going, the route my driver is taking, and my estimated time of arrival throughout the whole trip. This alone makes the ride-sharing experience superior to a taxi, in my opinion.
When you are ready to request a ride, you just open the Uber app and type your destination in the “Where to?” box.
You’ll be given the cost and the estimated time of the trip. You may also have options for the type of service you want with Uber. Here’s a summary of the main services:
- UberX: the base level of Uber, sedans for 1-4 people
- UberXL: SUVs that fit up to 6 passengers
- UberBlack: high-end vehicles and highly-rated drivers
There are various other premium and carpooling options, but the three above are the most common choices you’ll have at Disney World.
The fare estimator feature on the Uber website is useful feature for advance planning.
You can almost always choose a vehicle with a car seat as well. Children five and under must be in a car seat according to Florida law.
When you request a ride, you will be matched with the closest driver to your location. You’ll see the make and model of the driver’s car, as well as the driver’s name and rating. You will also be able to see the driver’s location and the estimated time until they arrive at your location to pick you up.
Magic Kingdom Uber Drop Off
One of the most popular questions is about the Magic Kingdom Uber drop off. Navigating the drop-off and pick-up points can be a bit tricky, but we’ve got you covered.
Drop Off Location
Uber drivers are not allowed to drop passengers directly at the Magic Kingdom entrance. Instead, the designated drop off point is at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).
From there, you can take a monorail or a ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom entrance. This adds a bit of travel time but is a smooth and scenic way to start your Disney day.
Pick Up Location
For your return trip, the pick-up location is also at the TTC. Be sure to follow the signs for ride-share services, which will lead you to the designated area where you can request an Uber.
During busy times, there might be a short wait for a ride, but the process is generally efficient.
Tips for a Smooth Experience
1. Allow Extra Time: Factor in the additional travel time from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom entrance, especially if you have dining reservations or FastPass+ bookings.
2. Check Peak Times: During peak hours, wait times and prices for Uber can increase. Consider traveling during off-peak times to save money and avoid crowds.
3. Plan Your Return: Be mindful of park closing times and potential surge pricing. Having an idea of when you plan to leave can help you avoid long waits and higher costs.
How Much is Uber from Orlando Airport to Disney World?
Another of the most frequently asked questions is, “How much is Uber from Orlando Airport to Disney World?”
It should take around 30 minutes to Uber from Orlando airport to any Disney World hotel.
The price can vary based on several factors, including the time of day, demand, and the type of Uber service you choose.
Estimated Costs
UberX: This is the most economical option and typically costs between $35 to $45 for a one-way trip from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Disney World.
UberXL: If you’re traveling with a larger group or have lots of luggage, UberXL can accommodate up to six passengers and usually costs between $50 to $65.
Uber Black: For those seeking a more luxurious ride, Uber Black provides premium service with prices ranging from $70 to $100.
Factors Influencing Price
1. Time of Day: Prices can be higher during peak travel times, such as early mornings, late evenings, or during major events.
2. Surge Pricing: During periods of high demand, Uber may implement surge pricing, which can significantly increase the cost of your ride. This is more common during holiday seasons and peak tourist times.
3. Distance and Traffic: The actual distance and traffic conditions can also affect the final price. Always check the estimated fare on the Uber app before confirming your ride.
You pick up an Uber on Level Two in Terminals A and B (NOT on Level One where baggage claim is). At Terminal C the Uber pickup is on Level 6.
Keep an eye out for Uber promotions and discount codes, especially if you’re a first-time user. Opt-in to receive emails from Uber and check your inbox before your trip for any current deals.
If your schedule allows, try to travel during off-peak times to avoid surge pricing and save money.
My Experiences With Uber & Lyft at Disney World
I’ve used Uber and Lyft over a dozen times on various trips to Walt Disney World. I’ve found my drivers to be professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Cars are clean (though not spotless) and the driving is WAY less scary than I’ve experienced with taxis!
I most often use Uber to get from my resort to another resort. While I love all of the Disney World resorts, the Value Resorts are some of my favorites – read why here.
The only negative experience I had was waiting way too long to get picked up at Epcot on one occasion.
I waited at least 10 minutes longer than I should have while it appeared my driver was stopped at a gas station! I now know I should have canceled the trip after a few minutes of waiting, but I didn’t know I could do that at the time.
If you attempt to cancel a trip you might get a warning that you will be charged a cancellation fee. I have canceled a trip within Walt Disney World and was not charged a fee, though these policies are subject to change at any time.
You are encouraged to give feedback after your ride and I always do. It’s mostly five stars, but I did give a negative review of my negative experience. This helps keep the service reliable for everyone so don’t feel bad about giving negative feedback if your experience was off in any way.
Uber To Disney World Additional Considerations
When planning your Uber trip to Disney World, here are a few more things to keep in mind:
Accessibility
Uber offers options for passengers with accessibility needs. UberASSIST provides additional assistance to seniors and people with disabilities, while UberWAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles) offers rides in vehicles equipped with ramps or lifts.
Child Safety
If you’re traveling with young children, note that Uber does not provide car seats. However, Uber Car Seat (available in select cities) allows you to request a ride with a car seat for an additional fee. You can also bring your own car seat to ensure your child’s safety.
Luggage
Make sure to choose the appropriate Uber service based on the amount of luggage you have. UberX can handle standard luggage, but if you have oversized items or a lot of bags, consider UberXL for more space.
Using Uber to get to Disney World is a convenient and cost-effective option that many visitors prefer. Whether you’re heading to the Magic Kingdom or another Disney park, knowing the ins and outs of the Magic Kingdom Uber drop-off and the cost of an Uber from Orlando Airport to Disney World can help you plan your trip efficiently.
Remember to factor in the additional time needed to travel from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the park entrance, and keep an eye on Uber’s pricing to avoid surge charges. By following these tips, you can enjoy a smooth, budget-friendly ride to the most magical place on earth.
I hope this article helped you understand how Uber and Lyft work at Disney World.
