10 Items To Buy At The Dollar Store Before Your Disney World Trip

pile of items to buy at the dollar store

I save money on our frequent trips to Walt Disney World by buying items ahead of time at the Dollar Tree!

Here are my top ten items to buy before your trip. These will make your trip better and save you bunches when you are at Disney World.

Rain Ponchos

Florida is famous for its afternoon thundershowers.

Instead of lugging a bunch of umbrellas around (or buying $10 ponchos in the theme parks), throw a bunch of these $1 rain ponchos into your park bag.

Glow Sticks

You can be pretty much guaranteed that your kids will want a light-up toy when you are in the parks at night.

Those fancy Disney toys cost $20 (and UP), so be ready with a pack of glow bracelets!

This pack of 20 only costs $1 and you can connect the bracelets to make glow necklaces as well. Hook them onto your stroller to make it easy to find in the dark.

Kids’ Activities For the Trip or Room

I always grab at least a few things to entertain my daughter on the trip to Disney World at the Dollar Tree. I usually get Disney-themed coloring books, stickers, puzzles, markers, etc.

She also likes to do these when we are in the room taking a break in the afternoon or getting ready in the morning.

Autograph Pen

How cute is this Mickey pen? It is perfect for handing to the characters to sign your autograph book (I like this official autograph book from Disney Store).

It is nice to have a special pen that is easy to find in your bag so you can get it quickly.

Night Light for Your Hotel Room

If your little ones are used to sleeping with a night light at home, be sure to grab a special Disney night light for your hotel room.

I’ve tried to remember to grab ours from home when we are packing up to leave in the wee hours of the morning, but I usually forget!

I have found it is better to have one already packed and ready to go with you to your hotel.

Lanyard for Pin Collecting

If you are even considering getting any Disney pins for pin trading, get a lanyard before your trip at Dollar Tree to save money.

I’ve even seen Disney-themed lanyards before that would cost at least $15 in the parks!

Tissues & Wet Wipes

You do NOT want to be without tissues and wet wipes at Disney World when you are traveling with little ones!

Convenience items like this are way overpriced in the parks, so be sure to grab some at the Dollar Tree before your trip.

I was even able to find cute Finding Dory themed tissue packs at my local store.

Tinkerbell Gifts

mickey, donald, and goofy magic towel

Many families have “Tinkerbell” visit their hotel room some mornings or evenings to leave small gifts for their kiddos. It is a great way to let them have fun new items on vacation without shelling out $25+ each day for gifts in the theme parks!

Tinkerbell has left Magic Towels for bathtime like the Mickey one pictured above. Small stuffed animals, pajamas, Disney t-shirts (obtained on the cheap from Target or Swap.com), bubbles, little Lego packs, and other small toys have also been gifted by Tinkerbell on our trips!

I hope this post gave you some ideas for how you can save money by preparing for a Disney World trip at Dollar Tree.
