I’m so excited to share my review and video of the Disney All Star Movies Resort refurbished rooms with you today!
I have spent MANY nights in these rooms this year so I feel like I know them well.
The biggest changes to All Star Movies Disney Resort refurbished rooms are:
- Two queen beds (formerly had two double beds)
- One bed converts to a Murphy bed
- Laminate flooring (as opposed to carpet in the old rooms)
- A small coffee maker and mini fridge (old rooms had NO coffee!)
- Sliding wooden door between the bathroom area and main room
So here are pictures, a video, and more details on the new rooms.
All Star Movies Disney Resort Refurbished Rooms: Living Area
Rooms now have a very large wall-mounted TV above a storage unit with three drawers. There is an electronic safe inside this unit.
You’ll find a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the other wall unit (see the video for details on the coffee maker).
And here is an up-close view of the fridge. There is no freezer area.
Here is the Murphy bed folded up so you can use the table and chairs.
Are here is what the bed looks like folded down. It has the exact same queen mattress as the standard bed. Both were comfortable though quite firm.
All Star Movies Resort Refurbished Rooms: Bathroom
I love the new bathroom with TONS of storage. There is a heavy sliding door that separates the bathroom area from the main room.
And there is another sliding door that separates the shower and toilet area from the sink area. This helps with two people trying to get ready in the morning.
I spent eight nights in one of these rooms in September and am happy to report that they were super liveable. I love all of the new changes in the rooms.
Here is my video tour of the new rooms where I was staying there:

This was SOOO helpful!! I just booked my first ever Disney trip - that I've been dreaming about since I was a child - and we booked at the All-Star Movies!
I was curious to know if it's best to request a room with two beds? We booked a preferred and I've done a request during online check-in to have a Toy Story building but it hit me suddenly that we do need a room with a pull-down bed.I didnt see that option during the online check in - any advice?
Thanks so much! Love love love your content!

Hi Kimberly! The vast majority of rooms have two queens (one is a pull-down). Unless you request a King you will be assigned one of those.

I see online that some of these rooms have a king bed instead of two queen beds. Is there a way to request that we receive the two queen beds? There are only two of us going, that want our own beds, but I'm afraid they will stick us with a king since our group is small.

Hi Bryan! Fear not, the VAST majority of rooms are two queens. You can also submit a room request for a room with two queens - here's how to do it: https://www.thefrugalsouth.com/the-best-way-to-make-a-room-request-at-disney-world-free-printable/

Hi, we are staying at all-star movies next month in a preferred room but can't seem to get an answer as to how big the in-room safe's are - would you know if it can hold a 15in laptop? Thanks!

Hi Tammy! No, unfortunately your laptop won't fit. The safes are 7″ x 10″ X 2″. Even the largest safes at Disney resorts are only 14" wide.

Hi Tegan! I believe they have all been refurbished now. I would still submit a room request to have a renovated room (just to be sure) and ask to be close to the main building. Here's more info: https://www.thefrugalsouth.com/the-best-way-to-make-a-room-request-at-disney-world-free-printable/

I booked this resort for our upcoming Aug 21-27th trip using a Priceline Express Deal. Tom Bricker at disneytouristblog has a great article to help understand how to determine which hotel you'll most likely get when using this option. We were already booked through Disney using a Passholder disount in a standard room at Music with nights ranging from $88 to $123. When I did the express deal we got a Preferred room at Movies for an average of $70 per night. No kidding. I am so excited! Plus I was able to cancel with no penalty since I'm still staying on property. I contacted the Disney Wholesale team and they set up my Disney reservation number so I could add it into the MDE app! I love saving money and will now always check Priceline. Only bummer is that I can't use my discounted Disney gift cards to pay Priceline.

Yay for Priceline Deals! So glad you got the better room for cheaper. Here's my resource on finding Disney hotels on Hotwire and Priceline (which I personally do all of the time): https://thebudgetmouse.com/how-to-find-disney-world-hotel-deals-on-hotwire-priceline/
