I’m so excited to share my review and video of the Disney All Star Movies Resort refurbished rooms with you today! I spent MANY nights in these rooms this year so I feel like I know them well.

The biggest changes to All Star Movies Disney Resort refurbished rooms are:

  • Two queen beds (formerly had two double beds)
  • One bed converts to a Murphy bed
  • Laminate flooring (as opposed to carpet in the old rooms)
  • A small coffee maker and mini fridge (old rooms had NO coffee!)
  • Sliding wooden door between the bathroom area and main room

Pop Century had a similar makeover with all rooms remodeled in 2018 – check out my review of those Pop Century rooms here!

So here are pictures, video, and more details on the new rooms.

All Star Movies Disney Resort Refurbished Rooms: Living Area

Bed, TV and storage in an All Star Movies Resort refurbished room

Rooms now have a very large wall-mounted TV above a storage unit with three drawers. There is an electronic safe inside this unit.

You’ll find a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the other wall unit (see the video for details on the coffee maker).

Are here is what the bed looks like folded down. It has the exact same queen mattress as the standard bed. Both were comfortable though quite firm.

All Star Movies Resort Refurbished Rooms: Bathroom

I love the new bathroom with TONS of storage. There is a heavy sliding door that separates the bathroom area from the main room.

And there is another sliding door that separates the shower and toilet area from the sink area. This helps with two people trying to get ready in the morning.

I spent eight nights in one of these rooms in September and am happy to report that they were super liveable. I love all of the new changes in the rooms.

Here is my video tour of the new rooms where I was staying there:

All Star Movies Disney Resort Refurbishment Progress

Pool area at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort

The expected completion date for the refurbishment at Disney All Stars Movie Resort WAS February 2019 but work seems to have halted for now. Buildings 6-10 has been refurbished but the other buildings have old rooms. (My guess is it was stopped due to work on Galaxy’s Edge and will resume after that opens).

To get one of the refurbished rooms, I would suggest asking for one as your first request. Here’s more info on how to make effective rooms requests at Disney resorts.

Did this include a Reno to the art of animation resort? My family and I would like to stay there next time we go.

Also, I had no idea you could book Disney hotels through anything other than Disney! Thanks for the heads up

Hi Amber! There’s isn’t any renovation scheduled for Art of Animation as of now. The All-Stars won’t be done until early 2020 so who knows after that!

Thanks for the review! We plan to stay there beginning of February. Question – are all rooms queen now? I was going to request a king/double combo, but if they’re all Queen I’m just going to request a refurbished room preferably!

Hi Susan! Yes, all rooms have two queens after the remodel. And I think the renovations should be done by February! But just in case I would suggest requesting a remodeled room. Have fun!

In the old rooms we were able to fit a twin size air mattress for our 7 year old who kicks in bed. It’s hard to tell from the photos whether or not one will fit if both the beds are down
What do you think? Will our air mattress fit now in the new rooms or not?

Hi Alyssa! Are you maybe thinking of the suites at All-Star Music? They have yet to be refurbished and no word on whether or not they will be anytime soon. So they are the same for now!

We are staying in May, do you know if the renovations have been completed? We are staying through a 3rd party, so I cant request a remodeled room. Thanks, Jennifer

I’d request to be in Toy Story Land for sure since I know all of those rooms are renovated already. I heard they are working on the other set of preferred rooms but there is no guarantee they will be finished. Plus I love the Toy Story courtyard. Have a fun trip!

I booked this resort for our upcoming Aug 21-27th trip using a Priceline Express Deal. Tom Bricker at disneytouristblog has a great article to help understand how to determine which hotel you’ll most likely get when using this option. We were already booked through Disney using a Passholder disount in a standard room at Music with nights ranging from $88 to $123. When I did the express deal we got a Preferred room at Movies for an average of $70 per night. No kidding. I am so excited! Plus I was able to cancel with no penalty since I’m still staying on property. I contacted the Disney Wholesale team and they set up my Disney reservation number so I could add it into the MDE app! I love saving money and will now always check Priceline. Only bummer is that I can’t use my discounted Disney gift cards to pay Priceline.
