Welcome The Frugal South Readers! Enter to Win a $25 Disney Gift Card

on March 25, 2018

If you click a link in this post and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission, at no additional cost to you. Read our full disclosure here.

I’m so excited to welcome my readers to the new home for my Disney content… The Budget Mouse!

My first site,  The Frugal South, started out as a place for me to share money-saving strategies for everything from groceries to entertainment to travel.

Over the past few years it’s become clear that my posts about saving money at Walt Disney World travel are by FAR my most popular posts. So I wrote more Disney posts and The Frugal South grew into a place of about half Disney stuff and half other money-saving stuff… which made it a kinda confusing place!

So I finally decided that my Disney content needed a home of its own… and here it is.

At The Budget Mouse you’ll find:

  • Tips and tricks for an incredible and affordable Disney vacation
  • Reviews of budget-friendly resorts, dining locations, and more
  • Creative ideas for visiting Disney World more often even on a tight budget
  • Ways to bring more Disney magic into your everyday life if you can’t visit as often as you’d like!

I’m so excited to have a totally Disney-dedicated site where I can help others create vacation magic like I’ve experienced! And to kick things off I’m giving away a $25 Disney gift card (or $25 cash via PayPal if you’d prefer) to one lucky reader.

All you have to do is answer this question in a comment below: What would you especially like to see here at The Budget Mouse?

I’ll randomly pick a winner from the comments on Sunday, April 8th, so be sure to get your comment in before then. I’ll notify the winner via email and you’ll have 48 hours to claim your prize. Thanks so much for reading!

Thanks for starting a new blog! Since returning from Disneyland with my kids and grand kids (a huge undertaking), a few of the many things I would have like to known more about are: hotel review/ideas from your followers to include additional fees like parking and resort fees as well as other types of stays, like air bnb. I’d also like to know where to get amazing souvenirs for cheaper than the park and inexpensive restaurant reviews.

To save money beyond the tips already known for WDW…like when to book, bring souvenirs, what to get at dollar store, off site hotels, airfare, where to buy park tix, how to save on car rentals, stroller ecv rentals, dvc rental,BYF (food)/dining,…so anything new. Maybe something specific for Canadians Bc of the exchange rate? And especially how can do DCL cruise with tight budget, how save there besides book early. Tips?

What are the tips you can give me on taking a young teenager to WDW for the 1st time? Resorts, rides, restaurants, shows, added expenses to anticipate etc. I am his Nana and like before, it will be just the two of us. We won’t be going in the summer but rather ear!y fall or late winter when it’s not so busy since he does well in school. I have never gone as a teen nor have I ever taken a teen so this is all new to me. I read all about WDW with babies and toddlers, but not teens. We have a special bond, my first grandchild and I want to do it right, but we will be on a budget, HELP ME P L E A S E! one worried nana

I’ve gone to Disney only one other time about 7 years ago and to be totally honest my sister basically booked all of our stuff for me. Now my family has grown so much that there’s 6 of us to feed, not just the 3 of us. We will be driving down to save some money.. and I hear so many stories about parking, or using a shuttle. With our youngest still only 4, I’m not sure if a shuttle is the best idea. I heard you can bring snacks, water etc… into the parks and I’m always asking regulars for tips. My sister in law told me about trading pins, and to order them off ebay, then we’re not spending money on souvenirs. I’m so nervous and yet so excited at the same time… but I still feel so unprepared for our trip. We go the second week of September. What really has got me confused is the fast pass. Some forums say to use them only in the afternoon. Some say to use them in the morning and then continue to use them all day… I do know we have to book them 30 days or so in advanced.. still lost over here lol

I haven’t been in at least 9 years and he hasn’t been in at least 10 years, so we would LOVE to see the must-dos and even the “must-donts.” I want to know what I just simply HAVE to see/eat/ride/etc. And, though it be kind of negative, I want to know things to expect to go WRONG. It’s always great to prepare for the let downs!! It would be nice to have a list of “Problem And Solution.” Excited for this new page!!!

My first time to Disney World was in January 2017. We stayed with a family member off site and we were only able to go to Magic Kingdom one day and Disney Springs one day. There was so much more we wanted to see and do but didn’t have time. That’s why we want to make this trip the best we can and to do as many things as possible. We will be celebrating a couple birthdays while we are there also. Thank you in advance.

I love following all of your advice. We are taking our family (kids & grandkids) for their first visit from the West Coast to Disney World. Your blog has helped me in my planning (been planning for 2 years) and I thank you.
What I would like to see in future posts… A step to step walk through to make Dining Reservations.
I had some difficulty in making my dining reservations. I had to get up at 3am (West Coast) and try to get my reservations. Thankfully I had no problem making the reservations…until I noticed they didn’t show up on “My Disney Experience”. I had to backtrack, where I finally observed that even though I was able to get the times I wanted, I didn’t finish the process. I had to scroll down to find the green buttons to secure the reservations and again to input allergies for my grandson, and again to hold with my credit card (which I already entered into the system) and then once again to accept the policy.
Another would be a step by step instruction on making fast pass reservations. (we haven’t done these yet, as it is still to early). Maybe you can do this in the next few months?
Again, I love reading your blogs, you are the best.

I absolutely LOVE your blog and all the great info you include. I would like to see a list of stuff to definitely splurge on and what not to spend your money on. I know I get caught up in souvenirs and can reason with myself on why I NEED it, but when I get home, I get buyer’s remorse and think to myself, “Why did I pay so much for this?!” Maybe include current prices for things, that way readers can decide if it fits in their budget. For example, is the picture pass worth it? Thanks for your time.

All information here is great. I would love to hear about special offers that Disney is offering on vacation packages. They often run limited time deals where lodging, meal plans, and tickets are all included at a discounted price. If you don’t snag the deal in time it disappears. It would be nice if somehow you could send email notifications of these deals to subscribers!
